I have wished that OmniFocus had tags since the first day I used it. Here are the top 7 features I’m looking forward to when OmniFocus 3 ships later this year. This version will get out of your way and let you focus on your tasks like never before. The reason is simple: it’s more flexible.

This is going to be a major update that will enable some incredible new workflows. I can’t wait for OmniFocus 3 for macOS to be available.

It’s not feature-complete-there are still several major features that the OmniGroup has said they’re working on that aren’t yet in the beta-but it’s already become my daily driver on my phone and iPad.

Last week, I received an invitation to try the beta version of OmniFocus 3 for iOS. (There’s a good chance I’ve spent more time on a beta version of OmniFocus than GM versions.) I used Ethan Schoonover’s Kinkless GTD scripts and have run every beta version of OmniFocus they’ve put out. General search works great right now but it’s too slow and complicated for convenient everyday use.I’ve been using OmniFocus since before it was OmniFocus. In OmniFocus if I want to use keyboard to do quickly exactly that, I need to use a shortcut to go to search field (ALT+CMD+F), use it (without seeing results), move to search results (ALT+CMD+2), use arrows to find where I want to move and use a shortcut to go to a specific project (ALT+CMD+R). In order to move to a notebook that I want I need no more than 2 seconds and I rarely use notebook structure anymore to find a proper notebook. This mechanics works wonders for quickly navigating extensive list of notebooks and notes that I have on Evernote. When the results are sufficient I only have to use arrows to select proper search result and press ENTER to move there. Notebooks are promoted over individual notes and are being presented at the beginning of search results. It basically opens up a short input field where you can start typing and see results while you type. I’m using Evernote on regular basis and a great little feature is CMD+J shortcut. I’d like to add to this list easier and faster general search. But.if I had to prioritize: UI, collaboration, flexibility in perspectives (let’s say that includes multiple comtexts/tags, oh and the “This Evening” thing )

Even if it was just an option to (fully) integrate reminders lists. Sadly.the theme.editor for OF 2 while powerful was IMHO very cumbersome to use (Perhaps.representative of Omnifocus today)

Examples of “good to haves” are an ability to apply templates (say packing lists) or adding files other than photos (say a cellular bill in PDF format). The “must haves” that are absent rather than the “good to haves” that would be, well, good to have. I’m adding here some that are almost on the level of a basic expectation rather than an aspirational ‘ask’ given what most basic GTD apps offer.
